Woll Golf Course, Scotland

Woll golf course in Scotland, offers a testing and very enjoyable round over 18 holes of outstanding natural beauty.  The par 70 parkland course follows the gentle contours of the Ale valley and is surrounded by mature trees. The Woll burn comes into play on a number of holes as do the ponds at the aptly named Pond hole and Dipper Haugh. Situated on the natural valley bottom the sub soil is sand and gravel ensuring the course drains very well and is playable all year round. It is kept to the highest standard to make your game enjoyable.

Three holes which will demand even the more experienced golfers attention are the 1st (The Island), and the 12th (The Thief's Road). The Island is a short par 4 which has a right angle dog leg at about 210 yards and then requires a shot over the Woll burn to the green which is only a wedge away if you put your tee shot in the right place.  The Thief’s Road Also dog legs to the right, but at 573 yards it needs three well struck shots to get home.  .  The 4th (Dipper Haugh), arguably the feature hole of the course is a testing Par 5 requiring a precision Drive from an elevated tee to the fairway below in the Dipper Haugh.  The Pond is within striking distance and the Drystane Dyke is out of bounds for the length of the Hole.  This hole has already been quoted as ‘One of the Borders finest’

The course makes an enjoyable outing for golfers of all capabilities and all are welcome. The terrain is very gentle and there is an abundance of wildlife in the valley.
