2008-09 Winter League Results

Round 1

Round 1 of the 2008-09 Winter League was played over the 1st and 2nd of November. Top golfer was Michael Davis from Hawick who recorded a superb 40 points stableford just beating Selkirk's Barry Pettie 39 points in to second place. 7 Golfer recorded scores of 37 or more and all had their Handicaps cut. Twenty golfers braved the conditions. The November Sponsor is Augusta Golf Ltd with 2 Doz Wilson Staff PX3 Balls to the golfer with the two best stableford scores.   

Round 2

Round 2 attracted an entry of 19 golfers playing in wet and windy conditions. Best score of the weekend came form Doug Oliver from Hawick with 39 points followed by Michael Willison on 38 pts. John Heatley recorded the only 2 which came on the 15th hole. The player with the best two scores so far is Michael Davis who has had a 40 & 37 (77) and leads by 3 from Sandy Bell 37 & 37 (74) with three weeks to go in November.

Round 3 

Round 3 brought some excellent weather and also produced the best score to date. Don Cottrell from Hawick put together a superb score of 43pts Stableford to win by 6 from Charlie Tait 37pts. With two weeks to go the Leaderboard is hotting up. The top four places are as follows, Michael Davis 77pts,Don Cottrell 76pts, Charlie Tait 75pts and Sandy Bell 74pts.  

Round 4

Round 4 brought the Die Hards out in very cold conditions. Play was only possible on the Saturday as almost an inch of snow fell over night and put payed to any golf on the Sunday. Scoring was low and it was Peter Forsyth from Hawick who produced the best score of the day a very creditable 33pts to win by one from Sandy Batchelor 32pts and Bill Davis. Michael Davis still leads the Monthly Competition from Don Cottrell by 1 point with Charlie Tait 1 point further behind with one weekend to go.
